About
Label History
Mt. Fuji is a record label based in Seattle, WA that was formed in 2005 by Michael Jaworski. In February of that year, Mt. Fuji would release it’s first record, the debut full-length by the Omaha-based band Little Brazil entitled You and Me. Later that year, Mt. Fuji would release an E.P. and full-length record by Jaworski’s band, The Cops. As time has passed, the label has slowly expanded adding releases by Slender Means, Lillydale, The Whore Moans, Point Juncture WA, Black Whales, The Maldives, and most recently Virgin Islands. The label has more releases planned for 2010 and beyond, including an upcoming split single between Spiral Stairs (Pavement, Preston School of Industry) and Long Winters.
FAQ’s
Q: Is Mt. Fuji accepting demos and signing new artists?
A: We love hearing new music and would be happy to hear your songs. If you want to submit something, go to our contact page, fill out the form, and include a link to a page where we can listen to your music. If we fall in love with you and have enough money in the bank account, you might just hear back from us.
Q: Will you let me know if you like my music?
A: Unfortunately, we just don’t have enough time to respond to everyone’s request. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear back. Just keep making awesome music and playing amazing shows. Eventually someone will take notice.
Q: Is Mt. Fuji from Japan? Is that why you’re called Mt. Fuji?
A: While everyone affiliated with the label would love to travel to Japan and take in the country’s wonderful culture, the label is not from Japan and was never based there. The name was inspired by on old Japanese restaurant in Omaha, NE named Mt. Fuji Inn.
