Spiral Stairs / The Long Winters
Biography
There are many benefits living in a city well known for its rock n’ roll culture. Not only are there numerous talented bands and hip venues, but sometimes the chemistry exists to spark a great collaboration. This is exactly the case with the upcoming split single on Mt. Fuji Records between Spiral Stairs (of Pavement and Preston School of Industry) and John Roderick of The Long Winters. During recent years of mutual residence in Seattle, both Scott Kannberg (aka Spiral Stairs, Pavement, PSOI) and John Roderick of The Long Winters got to know each other and became friends with Mt. Fuji label head Michael Jaworski. Jaworski approached both musicians about coming together for a collaborative release and the result is this double A-side, split single featuring Spiral’s contribution “Dreams They Guide Us” and The Long Winters song “Connections in Nashville.”
The Spiral Stairs contribution is a leftover B-side from his recent Matador Records release “The Real Feel” while The Long Winters song will be the first single from their upcoming Long Player to be released on Barsuk Records. Both songs compliment each other gracefully and the limited edition first pressing of 500 on colored vinyl make it sound even sweeter. Spiral Stairs has been touring the world with the recently reformed Pavement and The Long Winters have some exciting things planned around their upcoming full-length. Both tracks are also available for download.
