Mt. Fuji Records wants to extend a huge thank you to all of the bands on the label and everyone who bought a record or saw a show this past year. 2010 was an incredible year and we were thrilled to be able to release Wow & Flutter’s amazing record “Equilibrio!” as well as the split single between Spiral Stairs and The Long Winters.

2011 is shaping up to be MUCH busier for us, and we couldn’t be happier about it. First on the list, we’re very thrilled to announce our newest signing from Austin, TX – Follow That Bird. The band is currently prepping a single that Mt. Fuji will release in early spring of 2011 and also booking tour dates along the western half of the US for February and March. Stay tuned here for all tour dates and information on their full-length record expected out later in 2011.

Next up comes news from 4 Seattle rock n’ roll troublemakers, Hounds of the Wild Hunt. You may remember these dapper gentlemen from their former outfit, The Whoremoans. The boys have laid their old moniker to rest and are continuing on, in no less of rock n’ roll fashion, as the Hounds. The band has culled together 4 songs from their transitional phase and Mt. Fuji will be releasing it in the form of a digital EP. But wait… there’s more. These 4 songs are slated to be given away for the cost of FREE throughout the month of February via the Mt. Fuji website. That’s right, for the cost of ZERO dollars, you’ll be able to download the band’s first effort, and let me tell you… it is worth at least 10 times as much. You’ll need to break your February hibernation love-making sleep, because come March 2011 we’ll be selling the EP through all of the normal digital channels. Stay tuned as Hounds of the Wild Hunt work on their first full-length album to follow later in the year.

Next up… Who loves a certain band from Portland, OR so much they want to marry them and release their records FOREVER? Mt. Fuji Records, that’s who!!! Team Fuji has had the pleasure of working with Portland’s very own Point Juncture, WA for a couple years now and we are thrilled to announce that PJWA is nearly finished with a brand new long player slated for a release in spring of 2011 on Mt. Fuji. FUCK YES! Victor has been sharing the band’s demos and mixes along the way, and we are nothing less than crap-your-pants ecstatic about it. The band is wrapping up their recording sessions and brainstorming on ideas for the coolest packaging ever. The tentative release date is scheduled for May of 2011 and we can’t wait! We’ll keep you posted here as release plans come together.

Last and certainly not least… a few of you have heard of a little band from Seattle called The Maldives, right? Mt. Fuji was fortunate enough to release their latest effort, Listen to the Thunder a little over a year ago. This larger than life rock n’ roll band is currently in the studio recording their follow up release which should see the light of day on Mt. Fuji Records in the warmer months of 2011. We are stoked! If you’ve been lucky enough to see the band live lately (Showbox in Seattle anyone?), you’ve been lucky enough to hear a few of the new songs from the upcoming album. The boys are meticulously working on the new recording and will not be playing shows for several months as they work towards completion of their next effort. It should be nothing short of amazing.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support of the label and all of our tremendous artists! Wishing all of you a happy and peaceful holiday season. Take care and see you next year!
